Audit, Accounts & Bookkeeping Trainees

We are a fast-growing independent firm of accountants and business advisors who love working with owner-managed businesses. We are looking to recruit Audit, Accounts and Bookkeeping Trainees into our vibrant and fun-loving team in Saffron Walden.

The role: will involve a variety of different assignments including the preparation of statutory accounts and associated tax compliance work, assisting on audit assignments and the processing of bookkeeping and the preparation of VAT returns across an array of clients.

Personal Tax Supervisor

About the Job

Your day-to-day responsibilities will range from managing an existing portfolio of clients and associated general advisory work, general review of personal tax returns prepared by Tax Assistants, delegation and supervision of work to budget, preparing more complex returns whilst reporting to the Tax Manager and Tax Partner. You will have experience with capital gains matters, landlords and stamp duty matters, non-doms, non-residents and possibly inheritance tax and trusts (although the latter two are not essential).


What is on offer?

  • Equivalent salary of £34,000 - £38,000 (depending on experience/qualification)

  • 35hr working week with flexibility to work from home up to two days a week

  • Family-friendly and vibrant working environment with open lines of communication to Partner/Manager

  • 20 days annual leave (pro-rata)

  • Membership paid for with CTA/ACCA/AAT if due

We are looking for an experienced personal tax professional with review experience who ideally holds a relevant tax qualification with the CTA or ATT, although someone qualified by experience will also be considered with relevant experience.

Trainee Personal Tax Advisor

We are now looking to recruit a Trainee Personal Tax Adviser into our dynamic and entrepreneurial tax team based in Saffron Walden. We are offering a fully supported training package towards your ATT or CTA professional qualifications, depending on your previous experience, including time off for study and exams.

This full time role in a lively and fun office offers the successful candidate exposure to a wide range of clients across a variety of sectors with opportunity for rapid progression for the right candidate. We have a strong team ethic in our business which occasionally means some longer hours during peak periods.

The role is primarily based within the Personal Tax team and you will also develop your technical skills across a broad range of tax areas including Corporation Tax, and VAT, the role will get you started in developing your career as a tax adviser.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Assisting the Tax Manager on a day to day basis, preparing personal tax returns and also dealing directly with clients, HM Revenue & Customs and third parties.

  • Assist on tax compliance and advisory projects of private clients.

  • Knowledge will be gained on all aspects of taxation including business taxes.

Desired skills and experience

No prior experience is necessary, but the job would also suit someone who has already completed their AAT or ATT qualifications.

The successful applicant should be reliable, organised and able to meet deadlines and have:
